In the fermentation process of organic fertilizer production, windrow compost turners, with their robust adaptability and efficient turning capabilities, serve as a critical link between raw material pretreatment and subsequent processing. They operate not alone but in tandem with crushers, screens, and other equipment to rapidly transform raw materials like livestock and poultry manure and straw into high-quality organic fertilizer, fundamentally changing the low efficiency and inconsistent results of traditional fermentation.

After the production line starts, the raw materials first enter the  chain crusher. Large pieces of straw and manure are pulverized into fine particles, increasing the surface area for microbial contact and paving the way for subsequent compost turning. This step acts like “opening the Ren and Du meridians” for fermentation, facilitating easier decomposition of the raw materials. The crushed materials are transported by a   belt conveyor to the fermentation area, where a crawler compost turner comes into play. Its wide tracks allow it to easily navigate muddy and uneven fermentation sites, unlike wheeled equipment that tends to sink into the mud.At the same time, the aerobic, dry material on the surface is turned into the bottom layer, achieving “upward and downward convection.” This operation not only provides sufficient oxygen for microorganisms but also stabilizes the pile temperature in the optimal fermentation range of 55-65°C, accelerating the decomposition of organic matter and killing insect eggs and pathogens.

After fermentation is complete, the material is screened by a drum screen. Acting like a quality inspector, the screen separates impurities and incompletely fermented bulk materials. These unqualified materials are sent back to the crusher for further processing, while qualified organic fertilizer proceeds to the mixing and granulation stages. Throughout the process, the crawler compost turner can adjust the turning depth and speed to suit the fermentation needs of different raw materials. Whether it’s high-humidity manure or fluffy straw, it can efficiently process them.

Compared to traditional manual compost turning or small equipment, the crawler compost turning machine not only increases efficiency several times, but also reduces odor pollution during the fermentation process. Its coordinated operation with other equipment has enabled organic fertilizer production to move from “relying on experience” to “standardization.”
