Sri Lanka has a large-scale poultry farming industry, producing a large volume of chicken manure. Traditional open-air composting methods result in long fermentation cycles, severe odor diffusion, and environmental pressure, while also hindering the effective utilization of high-quality organic raw materials. A local organic fertilizer processing plant has constructed a new trough-type aerobic fermentation workshop and introduced our company’s large wheel compost turner with a waste gas spray purification system. On November 20, 2025, the entire machine was installed, track calibration was completed, electrical wiring was completed, and no-load testing was performed.
The project uses a double-wheel heavy-duty compost turner, adapted to concrete fermentation troughs. The trough is 5 meters wide, with a maximum turning depth of 1.6 meters, and can process 700-900 m³ of chicken manure mixture per hour. The equipment uses thickened, wear-resistant alloy toothed discs, providing strong impact force to effectively break up clumps of chicken manure, achieving integrated operation of material turning, aeration, and mixing. This effectively improves the oxygen supply efficiency of the compost pile, accelerates high-temperature composting, and kills insect eggs and harmful bacteria. The machine is equipped with a variable frequency drive (VFD) system, allowing for flexible speed adjustment to adapt to varying moisture content in chicken manure, shortening the fermentation cycle to 18-22 days.
Considering Sri Lanka’s hot, humid, and rainy tropical environment, the equipment’s steel structure is treated for corrosion and rust prevention, and all motors and electrical control components are moisture-proof and sealed. The fermentation workshop is equipped with a spray tower exhaust gas treatment system to centrally collect and purify the odor generated during fermentation, meeting local environmental emission requirements. The site is a steel-structured greenhouse, with the equipment moving back and forth along concrete tracks, featuring a well-organized layout and high space utilization.
Our technicians conducted on-site commissioning, limit calibration, and safety function testing. They also provided training to local operators on wheel maintenance, speed adjustment, replacement of vulnerable parts, and exhaust gas equipment operation and maintenance. After commissioning, the system can handle large-scale processing of local chicken manure waste, with the decomposed material used as raw material for subsequent organic fertilizer processing. The entire fermentation system operates stably and reliably.
